Some more thoughts about singing and the science of sound:
"Science is proving that incremental mastery boosts immune system response. Singing and making music - intrinsic to human nature and nature generally - directly enhance physical, mental, social and spiritual health. When we sing we activate, and replenish an essential and renewable resource within ourselves and our communities. Singing expands one's capacity for creativity, expression, listening and working with truth. Working together we tap into a greater intelligence. Health improves, attitudinal barriers dissolve, joy springs up, self-esteem and connectivity deepen.
In developing a singing or a songwriting practice, new neural pathways are created, literally increasing along with self-awareness, and the ability to communicate more effectively (verbally and non-verbally). As small accomplishments are repeated, and facility builds over time, new physio-psycho-social sensibilities open. When we become more adept at improvisation and paying attention to nuance, we become increasingly skillful as musicians, thinkers and communicators. A wider array of options and opportunities become available to us. In this way, exercising creativity leads to an overall expansion in one's personal confidence, and to a greater sense of freedom, possibility, and fulfillment as one affirms one's purpose and place in the world.
The positive cycle continues to spiral out as greater freedom and ease lead to increased risk-taking and results in both creative and social engagement. Engaging with others in learning, and in sharing our words, music, creativity and skills we further boost our own and others' immune system response, break isolation and strenghten community."
